Playa Grande Beach
Playa Grande is the name of one of the oldest Sugar Plantations
in Vieques, Puerto Rico, and is one of the most southwestern of her
beaches.
Playa Grande Beach runs for many miles on either side of the
lagoon which sits below where the plantation originally sat. It is a
beautiful and wild area and also has some occasional stretches of
black sand. There is no reef out front and the water tends to be
very rough during a southerly wind and has a serious shore break.
Half is on old Navy land and half in the civilian sector.
