Ranking in the Search Engines as of 1-27-05

A Sponsored Ranking is a listing for a website which is paid by P-P-C or advertising fees, and that listing goes at the top of the Search Engine's page and are the first listings viewed by the potential visitor. The Natural Rank is the rank that a website gets by a Search Engine supposedly based on content. That listing is subsequent to Sponsored listings, but no less important.

Most Search Engines list results of 3 to 5 sponsored listings, as well as 10 natural listings per page. If there are multiple listings above under the "Sponsored" heading, both of those listings would be on the 1st page. Most of the Search Engines list the sponsors at the top of EVERY page.
