Getting to Vieques can be as easy as getting off your flight
to San Juan International Airport and getting on your connector to Vieques.
All the airlines have ticket counters in the terminal, but chances are slim
that your connector flight is going to leave right after your arrival. So, go
into the terminal and check out the restaurants and shops, or walk outside and
enjoy the beautiful tropical weather for awhile.
Most of the airlines don't have late evening flights going to
the island of Vieques. In fact, most of the flights end around 6 PM, so bear
that in mind when making your reservations. If there are enough people in your
party or you don't mind the extra expense, you have the option of a charter.
If you're spending time on the main island of Puerto Rico
before you head over to Vieques or Culebra, you also have choices of other
airports to fly out of:

Isla Grande Airport near Old San Juan at the Port of
San Juan (787) 729-8711. A 20-min cab ride from the International
Airport and a good option with many flights to Vieques

Ceiba International Airport in Ceiba, (tel 787-863-1011
or 534-4100) if you happen to be nearby at
the rainforest (El Yunque) or at El Conquistador, Palmas del Mar or one of the other resorts
in that area.
